Kingdom People in a Compromised World
In Matthew 5:12-20, Jesus shifts from blessing to backbone. He reminds His followers that joy in persecution is not denial of pain, it is confidence in reward. Then He tells them exactly who they are in the world, salt that preserves, light that exposes, and a city that cannot hide. This passage confronts the temptation to shrink back, blend in, or privatize faith. Jesus does not lower the standard of the Law, He fulfills it, and then calls His people to live in a righteousness that is visible, costly, and deeply faithful. This teaching challenges believers to endure with hope, influence with purpose, and live in a way that points unmistakably to the Kingdom of God.
